After years and years spent working for top private and government firms throughout the country, siblings Erin and Michael Carrillo have officially teamed up to open their own practice—the Carrillo Law Firm. Tucson natives going back five generations, the Carrillos couldn’t be happier for this venture.
“We’ve actually been planning this for a while,” said Erin, “but the timing was never just right.”
“We finally just said ‘You know what? This is what we want to do and we know we’d be great at it, so let’s do it!’”
Brother Michael agrees. “Erin’s been accumulating an amazing amount of experience and success in handling some of the biggest criminal defense cases in the state. I’m balancing out our portfolio with more of a focus on family law, so we’re ready to offer help our clients through two of the toughest challenges in law.”
The Carrillos are aiming to create a kinder, gentler law firm that still has sharper teeth than the competition. “Law is a competitive field,” says Michael, “but often times the clients get chewed up and spit out in the contentious litigation process. We’re all about making sure our clients make it through better off—successfully but with their pride and self-esteem still intact.”
“It’s too easy,” agrees Erin, “to just do law like an assembly line: You’re in, you’re out, you’re done. A lot of times firms even subcontract their work. As a client, you don’t know who you’re getting and your lawyer couldn’t pick you out of a lineup. I’ve been practicing criminal defense law for a long time and I can’t for the life of me see how someone can do a good job with that sort of approach. Every case is different, every person’s situation is unique. If you don’t get to know and trust your clients, you might as well just refer them to LegalZoom.com and wish them luck.”
